This ministries is a network of adult volunteers from throughout the region and parts of the country. Xtra Hands helps those seeking to serve to GET CONNECTED. Many people who come to volunteer have relationships with those already volunteering and others don’t have personal relationships in the community of the camp and need connections to link them together and assimilate them into their place of gifting and ministry. Xtra hands does that.
Service moves the focus of my heart off of myself and onto others. The more I serve, the more my heart changes. We welcome those who would like to volunteer to help advance our ministry as we continue to know Christ and make Him known to a lost world.
The ministry grounds hosts multiple ministries. The most well known in the community is Camp Hope, a ministry to inner city children. Others include Wonposet Camps.
We believe it’s important to place volunteers in service where there is a good match in terms of their temperament, passions, and spiritual giftedness. The network is designed to help people identify these gifts so as to put the right people in the right places for the right reasons.
Tasks could be preparing the camp for the season, cleaning some of the 50 buildings on the grounds, rounding up blankets for some cold nights during camp, teaching, preaching, preparing meals, praying, planting and working in the gardens, mowing the many lawns, painting, doing crafts, visiting children, cleaning windows, making Christmas stockings, hugging children, making a Wal-Mart run, it’s truly endless, the many tasks that need a servant to help produce the fruit the ministry desires.
For example, you can make a difference by:
- Serving as a team member in the Dining Hall
- Serving as a Welcome Host or Hostess
- Gardening on the campus grounds
- Assisting on a construction project
- And much much more…
So come join us! Whether from your home working on a selected task, to an extended stay at the beautiful grounds of Camp Hope, we would love to have you!
