Role Models

The Value of Positive Role Models

Did you ever go to camp as a child or teenager? If you did, remember the excitement you experienced? For many, it’s the first time you’d ever left home without Dad or Mom. What about that special counselor, coach, or friend that you still remember to this day? Or maybe it’s the lessons or projects you did back then that you still view as efforts that molded your life and the way you think to this day. We provide positive life-changing experiences for children through visits to our two beautiful camping facilities located in Litchfield Connecticut.

What do inner city children need?

Inner-city children desperately need stable, positive role models willing to befriend them. If they don’t find good role models, you can be assured they will find ones who may not have a positive influence on them. Camp Hope’s counselors model Christian virtues and values that many of these children have never seen close up, thereby giving these staff members a great opportunity to teach Gospel truths that the Holy Spirit can use to impact a life forever. At camp, seeds are sown that have eternal consequences, and wisdom is shared that helps a child develop character and face daily decisions once he or she has returned home.

Every year, Camp Hope gives hundreds of inner-city children the priceless gift of fun and unforgettable memories. Camp Hope offers a spectacular place of refuge for inner-city children. It gives the children of this abandoned generation the opportunity to step out of the concrete jungle where they live and see that the larger world exists not just for others but for themselves as well. Here they are given a chance to participate in things they may have only dreamed about or seen on television.
